Okehampton to Newquay - 69 miles (total so far 980 miles)
Today was always on the cards as being the longest day and indeed it was. It was the furthest we'd cycled in one day and we were in the saddle for the longest period of time.
The ride incorporated two former railway lines - The Two Castles Trail and The Camel Trail. Both of these were a pleasure to ride. The weather was fairly kind to us, we had a shower that lasted about 15 minutes. We also had a strong westerly wind which made it hard going. Both our morning coffee break and lunch break were immediately followed by a hill climb. We all experienced the feeling of the brain giving instructions to the legs to power us up the hill and the legs not responding.
We are now in Newquay with one days cycling ahead of us. Newquay has certainly lived up to its reputation. Wetherspoons was full of groups of young lads drinking lager. We were the exception drinking jugs of cold water and a couple of bottles of red wine. Well its time for bed after a hard day's cycling.Tomorrow is our last day - hurrah!
