Although this is our 10th cycling holiday we are also doing it to raise money for two charities: Sustrans - the UK's leading sustainable transport charity, and Everyman - a charity with a mission to stamp out testicular and prostate cancer.

Last year I was down with a mystery post work condition that laid me low for 9 months and thus unable to do the Southport to Hornsea ride the other four lads did in May 2009. Tomorrow with a group of 9 others I am starting the ride as part of my John O'Groats to Lands End training that will that take my training up to 1100 miles since 1 May 2010. Richard Scarth
